Topic: Identification of Common Tools and Their Uses
Aim:
To identify common hand tools and understand their specific uses.
Materials/Tools Required:
Hammer
Screwdriver (Flat & Phillips)
Pliers
Spanner/Wrench
Measuring Tape
Hacksaw
Scissors
Glue Gun
Uses of tools
The hammer is used to drive nails into wood and to remove nails using its claw. The screwdriver, both flat and Phillips, is used to tighten or loosen screws and to open small screw-fitted objects. Pliers are used to hold and bend wires and to cut thin wires. The spanner or wrench is used to tighten or loosen nuts and bolts and for plumbing and mechanical work. The measuring tape is used to measure the length and width of objects and to mark measurements for cutting. The hacksaw is used to cut metal pipes and rods and to cut plastic pipes. Scissors are used to cut paper and cloth and to trim threads and ribbons. The glue gun is used to stick paper, cardboard, and plastic, and for craft and model making.
Procedure:
Observe each tool carefully.
Note down the name, type, and main parts of the tool.
Write down 1-2 main uses of each tool in daily life or in a workshop.
Mention safety precautions while using each tool.
